COCKROACH SAGA CONTINUES…

Oi!
To start off this week our neighbor gave us 3 giant avocados. So we have been drinking a lot of avocado smoothies (yes they eat avocados sweet here) and guac, which was super weird for Sister Ribeiro because it was salty haha.

We had our Zone Conference meeting this week, but our President has stopped doing training at these, so we had to go out onto the street and find people to bring and teach them in front of everyone which was actually super fun.

We were trying so hard with our investigator Joao Francisco this week, and we showed up at his house and turns out he can't hear us very well. So we tried to write things down but he can't see very well either. But then one night we went to his house at like 7pm in the pouring rain, absolutely soaked, knocking on his house and I don't think he could hear us, we tried for 20 minutes and then he was not baptized because he had to go to the hospital again this weekend.

Some dude came to kill our cockroaches this week because we have an infestation. He did not succeed :/

We got a new oven and we christened it with brownies :))

I have been proposed to a lot this week. I think the blonde hair and white skin is blinding everyone.

Love You All!

New Missionary Weekly Communication Change!

First of all, i was very cold yesterday because it has been raining enough that I actually have felt cold so that was a nice change.

I am super pumped about this new change where I can talk to my family every week and more with skype on the holidays! Im talking to my mom currently and I got to call my dad for father’s day!! It’s such an awesome change.

We killed a cockroach this week which we think was the mom to all the baby cockroaches we have been seeing...We killed it with fire. Not

hit 7 months on the mission! I celebrated by throwing up and going to the hospital so that’s why i didn’t send an email last week lol

Presidente and Sister Cooper came to our ward on Sunday! They are super great and talked to our investigators, and helped make some good changes

Joao Francisco was gonna be baptized on Sunday but he had to go to the hospital with his son so he said he will be baptized next week!

We have investigators with a restaurant and said that tonight she would make us dinner and dessert so yayyy so batiza. The daughter said she started praying after we visited her and she felt like her burdens were lifted, and being shared and that was so cool to hear.

Amo Voces,
Sister Cecil

Transferencia

This week was the last week of the transfer so Sister Ramos (my trainer) and Sister Lima stayed in our tiny little apartment for the week. On Thursday they all left, including Sister Souza, and so we stayed in a trio with Sister Ribeiro. Trios are kinda rough, but Sister Ribeiro is awesome so it wasn't too bad. We found out about the transfer kinda early, and we are all going to stay, and Sister Shields (who has been Sister Olsen's companion) will be Sister Ribeiros new companion! We spent like 3 hours deep cleaning our apartment today for her lol

One of the recent converts has told us that she is our new mom on the mission and that we need to tell our mothers back at home that we now have another black mom.

We aren't super close with the ward members here, just a couple because we have Family Home Evening usually every Monday night with a group of us.  Our group includes Felipe, he served a mission here and he moved back here and he is basically a missionary with us. He always organizes these Family Home Evenings, etc. Then there's Daniel, he is returning to the church after living a really non church life. He has such a strong testimony and a cute little son who just got baptized. He's fluent in English and German. Then there's some recent converts that are also fluent in English, and help us out a lot. Then some less actives who we reactivated; one is Elin and she is pregnant about 8 months, and then Vagner, they've been through some rough stuff, but they're super great now. That's basically our Family Home Evening group

Sister Jarrett and I have started making a bucket list (pic attached) for when she gets home. It's kinda fun having an American companion because then we can actually plan stuff to do after the mission!

So the other week some random lady gave us 4 avadcados idk how to spell advocados and they finally were ready yesterday, so we made guac and went to a member's house and had tacos with doritos and that was great. (photo attached)

Joao Francisco had an interview this week and he passed! and then he made us more pao de queijo...However we just found out that he is the leader of some prayer circles in varios churches? Not sure how we are going to deal with that, but he at least went to church on Sunday. And he showed us a picture of his ID, which basically clarified for us that he was a part of the Brasil version of the FBI.

We also got a call on Friday from a reference we passed on. One day we were walking on the street, saw some dude at a bus stop and felt impressed to talk to him. We got his number and passed it to the missionaries near his home. Usually missionaries who just receive a number don't really follow up too much, but we got a phone call saying that he was going to be baptized the next day! I couldn't believe it, he told us that we were inspired by God to stop and talk to him so that was super cool to find out!

I also recieved a package this week which rocked because it's like Christmas every time we get a package. Valentine's Day here is on the 12th of June, but since I'm living with 3 Americans now, the decorations are much appreciated (pic included)  Oh and one more thing! Since Jarrett and I now have matching bags (thx mammmm) we took pics

Thank you so so so much for the package!! I love the new bag, it rocks, its just what I wanted. And all the beef jerky and food wohoo!! We put up all the decorations, thanks for keeping the traditions alive haha! Thank youuuuuuu

Boa Semana!
Sister Cecil

Pictures: The first one is because we literally had 0 money because our allowance hadnt gotten put in yet and that was literally all the money we had
The second and third is when we went on splits with a member so we could have better numbers and i went on splits with her then the others just...dont have an explanation.
The shots were fine, i just ignored what was happening. Living with the sister trainers is good, i wouldnt want to live with just 2 normal missionaries for sure.
